Tokyo Joe – Putting defibrillator paddles on a pop-rock sound that dominated the 90s Tokyo Joe lean on bright chords, bent slides, and growling vocals. Since the bands inception 21 years ago, they continue to stay regionally relevant playing hundreds of shows each year. Still have Stroke 9 and Third Eye Blind in rotation? You won’t be disappointed.

Brittany Turnipseed – Behind her frames and soft laugh Brittany Turnipseed holds the capability of an entire choir. Her natural vibrato melts at the edges and her high notes hit at a frequency that will give you goosebumps. The Chayz Lounge is the perfect place for a voice like hers so grab your date and get ready to groove to a timeless vocalist.
Chayz Lounge: 8:00 p.m., $10, 803-563-8375

Phonic Cafe – Following a mad scientist formula Phonic Cafe have combined hip hop, acoustic, and rock. The reaction? Auditory candy. With influences ranging from Jack Johnson to the Gym Class Heroes they seem like a hot mess; but if their sound doesn’t represent today’s youth it’s hard to say what does. Overly saturated airways just aren’t willing to take these types of risks and man if it isn’t refreshing.
